We have today had a routine NSI service test of our alarm system as required under our ISO27001 Certification. We are following the Hatton Garden jewellery heist with amazement and one particular area of interest is the response to the intruder alarm.
According to the Independent, the Met Police’s Central Communications Command received the alert on the night.
“The call stated that a confirmed intruder alarm had been activated at the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Ltd,” a spokesperson [Met Police] said. “The call was recorded and transferred to the police’s CAD (computer aided despatch) system…a grade was applied to the call that meant that no police response was deemed to be required. We are now investigating why this grade was applied to the call”.
The key point to any alarm system is that it requires a human response. Our customers can be assured that should our alarms be activated we have the people who can immediately follow rehearsed procedures to ensure the cause of the alarm is identified.
