Delivery of another new shred truck is just weeks away. The high security main paper shredder and ancillary hardrive destruction unit have been fitted and tested. The truck will start servicing customers across the West Midlands, North West and North Wales in August.

Topwood Security Shredding are expecting delivery of another new shred truck in August. The MDX model is currently in build and Topwood have recruited and are training a crew to operate the new truck at customers in Cheshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Merseyside, Lancashire and around Greater Manchester.

Information security is at the heart of Topwood’s business and the X in the MDX model name denotes the trucks’ cross cut capability. When delivered Topwood’s entire mobile shred fleet will consist of cross cut shredders. Cross cut shredding meets the stringent security standards required by the NHS, MOD and other Government departments. On-site, cross cut shredding provides customers with the maximum protection against data breaches. Modern shred trucks work faster and cut smaller which increases their operating efficiency explains Topwood’s MD Tom Gilruth…‘with our customer base in Liverpool and Warrington expanding the purchase of another MDX shred truck increases our capacity by actually lowering time spent at customers’ offices. These shred trucks now shred paper documents at the same rate that they can be brought to the truck!’.

With the new GDPR due to replace the Data Protection Act 1998 in May-18 there will be a greater responsibility on data controllers to ensure the destruction of personal data contained in files on electronic media. On-site shredding guarantees data controllers the data destruction is complete as they can actually witness the destruction of personal data. This new truck will have two shredders; the main one is for paper documents and a separate shredder will destroy hard drives and electronic media and keep the shredded waste separate.

This will allow both paper documents and files as well as electronically held data to be destroyed in a single visit – in full view of the customer.

As well as security and efficiency improvements the new trucks provide environmental benefits too. With the addition of this truck Topwood’s entire fleet will meet Euro 6 standards and all trucks will have low noise emissions. Cleaner engines, lower noise and less time spent on-site makes the trucks ideal for servicing city and town centre offices in Shrewsbury, Telford, Wrexham, Stoke, Chester and Liverpool. All the paper is removed from customer’s offices and taken direct to Deeside where it is unloaded for recycling into paper products.
