Here are some facts and figures about the environmental benefits to recycling paper in the UK
- We use paper every day and as a nation 12.5 million tonnes is used each year.
- 12.5 million tonnes of paper and cardboard are used annually in the UK.
- The average person in the UK gets through 38kg of newspapers per year.
- It takes 24 trees to make 1 ton of newspaper.
Each tonne of paper recycled saves:
- 7 trees
- 7000 litres of water
- 4,200 kwh of energy
For every 2 tonnes of paper we recycle, we plant 1 tree at our plant site in Cheshire
